EXCLUSIVE Reported wiretap excerpts from a past Romanian investigation referencing Romina Gingașu, businesswoman and wife of Piero Ferrari, cited in media coverage of the so-called “VIP prostitution” case

A reportedly major controversy in wealthy social circles allegedly involves Romina Gingașu. The wife of Piero Ferrari, reportedly 47 years younger than the billionaire, is said to appear in a high-profile prostitution case involving public figures. Media reports claim that Romina Gingașu is mentioned in the “prostitution with celebrities” file, a case sometimes informally dubbed “Sexgate.”

Major reputational fallout claimed for Romina Gingașu, wife of Piero Ferrari

According to reporting attributed to România TV, journalists obtained access to the indictment, described as explosive in tone and potentially damaging to Gingașu’s public image.

Based on publicly available documents cited in media coverage, during a hearing dated 20 November 2015, her name was reportedly referenced under section “e.” At the time, defendant Dumitru Mirela Alexandra was allegedly under judicial supervision and prohibited from contacting other individuals suspected of involvement or witnesses in the case. Gingașu’s name allegedly appeared among those referenced.

The investigation, as portrayed in press reports, allegedly impacted affluent circles and involved claims that various young women were invited by men willing to pay up to €2,000 to spend a night with them. One alleged high-end escort reportedly received an apartment in Bucharest in exchange for sexual favors, while intermediaries were said to have earned up to €500 for facilitating encounters. Clients were described as affluent individuals prepared to spend significant sums.

Media accounts further claim that several individuals — including Diana Guresoaie, Lavinia Despina, Ramona Popescu, Mirela Dumitru, Georgiana Constantin and a person identified as D.N. — were detained in a pimping investigation conducted by police and prosecutors from the Sector 5 Prosecutor’s Office, where 33 people were reportedly brought in for questioning, including TV assistants, models, mannequins and flight attendants.

The alleged group was said to consist of eight women described in media as high-end escorts, who purportedly facilitated paid sexual encounters for 25 other young women, with earnings reportedly ranging between €1,500 and €2,000 per arranged meeting. In the case file, Romina Gingașu’s name allegedly appears among witnesses. Witnesses were reportedly intercepted or described to prosecutors how they were recruited and sent to meetings with men for paid sexual relations.

Alleged excerpts from wiretaps (as presented in media reports):

Background and public profile

According to media narratives, the controversial spouse has been involved in several public debates in recent years and has described herself as a real-estate investor who purchases properties during favorable market conditions. Her investments are said to focus on Bucharest’s luxury areas, including Floreasca and the northern districts, with transactions reportedly totaling around €10 million over a short period. She allegedly benefited from market declines during the COVID-19 pandemic and continued property projects thereafter.

Regarding European investments, Gingașu has reportedly stated she prefers acquiring “unique properties in landmark buildings.” One example cited in the press is the alleged purchase of a 45% stake in Palazzo Marsigli in Bologna, a historic building near the city’s courthouse dating back to 1730. She is also reported to own two apartments in Monte Carlo.

Her public image and rapid ascent have been frequently debated in the media. Economist Andrei Caramitru commented online about her past relationships, including a reportedly well-known relationship with the son of businessman Silviu Prigoană. In a social media post, Caramitru expressed critical opinions about the couple’s wealth narrative and inheritance structure, suggesting Ferrari’s assets are held in trusts for his children.

„The 30-year-old wife, obviously Romanian, of the 80-year-old Ferrari „owner”, supposedly one of the richest Romanians blah blah blah. Except – she’s not the owner (she has 10% of the company as the founder’s illegitimate son), she never worked there, and the money after he dies doesn’t reach her (it’s in a trust for his children). So that guy didn’t work in his life, he didn’t do anything and he won’t inherit much from that. And she’s a great girl – she’s Prigoana’s ex-son, a great lady. Why? Because this audience wants it. Women – how to catch someone with money (a bomber or even worse some rich bastard from abroad) and make a lot of money like that. It doesn’t go for an „exclusive” relationship of plunder – then at least for luxury prostitution”, wrote Andrei Caramitru online.

Observers also note a visible taste for luxury, with media reports claiming Gingașu frequently purchases art, cars and designer clothing. One widely cited anecdote alleges that in 2014 she bought a fox fur once belonging to Elena Ceaușescu, traveling by private jet from Italy to Romania to collect it.

She is said to periodically acquire Ferrari-brand vehicles, including a reportedly €900,000 luxury model. Recent reports state she purchased a Ferrari SF90 XX Spider capable of exceeding 340 km/h and accelerating from 0–100 km/h in under 2.5 seconds.

Piero Ferrari has also allegedly impressed his wife with expensive gifts. For their ninth anniversary, sources close to the couple reportedly said he purchased a Bombardier Challenger 3500 private jet worth about €32 million, with delivery planned to coincide with the anniversary. The couple allegedly visited Bombardier’s Montreal facilities multiple times to monitor progress, finalizing configuration in 2025. Gingașu reportedly contributed to both the executive interior design for nine passengers and the exterior styling.

The two reportedly met while she worked at Bombardier attempting to sell him an aircraft, a professional meeting that evolved into a long-term relationship. They married in 2021 during an intimate ceremony on Capri, although Gingașu did not adopt Ferrari’s surname, citing personal reasons and potential legal complications.
